Developing literacy through nature and story play

DEVELOPING LITERACY THROUGH NATURE AND STORY PLAY IN OUTDOOR LEARNING provides teachers with an opportunity engage with English curriculum activities. The course is completed in an outdoor environment and the activities are completed to enable teachers to experience nature pedagogy, within literacy building activities, for themselves.

Date April 30, 2019 - April 30, 2019
Time 9:00am - 5:00pm

Teaching strategies for outdoor learning will be modelled throughout the course, with the aim that teachers can replicate these in their own settings. There is an introductory facilitated discussion to explore curriculum content, a best practice English outdoors session, collaborative programming activities and a reflection in the form of poetry. Each activity is scaffolded to ensure teachers can replicate it in their own educational setting and participants are encouraged to record their activities in photographs as a lasting memory of the teaching strategies they have learnt in the course.
