Agnew School is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Teacher Aide – Special Needs at our Brisbane campus, situated in the Wynnum Manly district. This role is permanent, full time and available for an immediate start.
This role, reporting directly to the Head of Campus and Head of Faculty, has primary responsibility for delivering daily lesson plans, under the direction of a Teacher, to a student whom requires a high level of support due to several learning and medical conditions including Spina Bifida. This role would also be responsible for the physical and emotional needs requirements of the student, including assistance with eating, drinking and catheterisation.
In instances where the successful applicant is not looking after the designated student, they would be required to assist with learning support across both the primary and secondary year levels.
The successful candidate will be a team player, have a genuine love of teaching, possess a patient and compassionate nature and a "can do" attitude, and be comfortable in providing educational and special needs support to a wheelchair bound student. These responsibilities will include being the student's primary teacher aide (under the direction of a teacher) and providing both physical and emotional needs support.
The successful candidate will take great job satisfaction in being able to positively contribute to a childs life via their learning journey, and be comfortable in stepping away from traditional classroom teaching practices to embrace modern teaching methods and technologies. As the school has a strong faith based approach to life and learning, the successful applicant will also need to be able to respect and support this aspect of the lives of the students.
Applicants for this position must hold a relevant Teacher Aide qualification (minimum Cert III in education support) and be in possession of a current Working with Children clearance.
The successful applicant must also be willing to undertake first aid, manual handling and catheterization training. Agnew School will further invest in additional training with the student's team of medical support personnel for the successful applicant.
