Cranbrook is an Anglican, independent day and boarding school, Pre-school to Year 12. Cranbrook Pre-schools are located on two sites, in Vaucluse (St Michael’s Pre-school) and Darling Point (St Mark’s Pre-school). The curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Cranbrook School is seeking an outstanding leader to join our dynamic Junior School Leadership Team in a full-time role, starting from the beginning of Term 1 2021. The Deputy Head Operations and Staffing P-6 supports the Head of Junior School in the development and implementation of the strategic vision for the Junior School and to ensure the best possible education for the students within Junior School. This position is responsible for overseeing the staffing, operational and administrative functions within the Junior School.

Possessing an exemplary understanding of best practice, you have a deep commitment to implement rigorous, highly differentiated programmes in Junior School settings. Applicants must be excellent communicators, creative, able to work well with all students, parents and staff members, and be willing to take an active and enthusiastic part in the full life of the School, including co-curricular activities and School events outside normal teaching hours.

Key Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

− Hold tertiary teaching qualifications in primary education

− Be NESA accredited to teach in New South Wales

− Demonstrate a sound understanding and knowledge of the NSW Curriculum

− Have a minimum of five years’ fulltime teaching experience in Junior School contexts

− Possess effective leadership experience

− Demonstrate expertise in using data effectively to inform educational decisions

− Be superbly organised, have an eye for detail, be resourceful and have an ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines

− Have exemplary written and oral communication skills

− Show a strong understanding and appreciation of compliance, confidentiality and privacy requirements

− Be able to demonstrate exceptional capacity to build trusting relationships and collaborate with all people at various levels, with diverse backgrounds and from a wide range of age groups

− Be able to take ownership of tasks, demonstrate initiative and produce work of a consistently high standard

− Demonstrate a commitment to continual professional development and reflection

− Be able to represent the School at the highest professional level

− Have a high level of proficiency with technology.

Experience teaching the PYP Primary Years Programme and post graduate leadership qualifications are highly desirable. A detailed Position Description is available on the School website.
