Cook School is a specialist education setting with an enrolment of up to 56 students from Kindergarten to Year 10 (ED/BD/AU), located in a beautiful bushland setting in the Sutherland Shire. Cook School provides specialist support for students impacted by complex trauma, mental health conditions, behaviour difficulties and autism spectrum disorder.

The school provides short-to-medium term intensive support for students focusing on improving self-regulation, academic stamina and achievement through a transdisciplinary, trauma-informed, positive education model. Students at Cook School remain as a shared enrolment with their local mainstream school, with varying levels of negotiated transition dependent upon individual student needs.

The school has a reputation for innovative, evidence-based practice and has formed a close research partnership with the University of Technology, Sydney. Cook School is currently undergoing a period of significant program expansion with our first new autism class (K-6 AU), having commenced Term 1, 2019. The successful candidate may be required to teach in any of the programs (K-10) across the school.
