On the Ball is a three phase program for students in the middle school (Grade 5 to Year 9).

The first session is a two-hour visit to your school by athletes including Essendon footballers and Australian Paralympians. Schools are provided with a Staff Information Package prior to the athletes’ visit, a Parent Information Booklet for each student, a Student Resource Brochure and gifts.

The second phase is optional and involves students working on a school-based project that uses multimedia to raise the awareness of issues relevant to them. These could include depression, drink driving, drug or alcohol abuse, safe sex and smoking. Schools that complete phase two are eligible to compete in phase three. Each school selects their best idea and students present these to a panel of judges at Essendon’s True Value Solar Centre.

Prizes of up to $1000 are available courtesy of the generous sponsorship of program partner the Bendigo Bank Strathmore Community Branch.

Available: All year round
Cost: Free only to schools in EFC’s North West Melbourne metro region.
Schools outside EFC region $10 per student* - includes one hour tour of the True Value Solar Centre.

TRAIN LIKE A BOMBER

This senior school program has been designed in consultation with teachers recommended by ACHPER and supports the course content presented in VCE PE, VCAL, VET Sport and Recreation and select Year 10 electives. The second session is practical, runs for approximately 45 minutes and includes a tour of the club’s state-of-the-art training facilities, presentations by current EFC coaching staff and opportunities for a Q & A. All participants receive a booklet containing statistics, data and answers to questions covered in the classroom session.

Allow approximately 2.5 hours for this session.

Teachers can elect to choose between two different presentations in 2014:
